Sun

He rises with ease; he is the dawn as it breaks

Restored by the night that held him

Striding forth, the earth releases him in ascension

A chariot spun from gold, his steeds majestic

Soaring high through crystal air, a seamless flight

Watching the earth blur in subtle tones beneath him

A landscape of green and burnt sienna

He circles his ocean, swirls of deep azure

Crested with pure effervescent pale

Bathing the high with his luminous blaze

Defied by nothing, for he is sun personified

He is Helios

A wonderful poem exploring a deity which fascinates me. I adore the language you use:

“He rises… restored by the night that held him”

Such a beautiful concept the god of light embracing rest in that of the absence of such.

Again your use of colour is magnificent, so rich and vivid yet subtle in the execution.

I love it, like all that you write. 🙂
